Meet the Staff of the College

Academic Leadership

Fr. Freddy del Villar Zúñiga, Director General of the UAC-CP
Father Freddy

Father Freddy is responsible for daily oversight of the College’s core areas: academics, production, community extension, and research. Fr. Freddy has degrees in Pastoral and Liturgical studies and Social Institutional Communia. He also holds a Master's degree in Bioethics from the Athenaeum Pontificium Regina Apostolorum in Rome, Italy. Prior to joining the UAC-CP in 2006 as Vice Director General, Fr. Freddy held various positions within the Diocese of Coroico where he currently serves as pastor.


Dr. Hugh Smeltekop, Vice Director General of the UAC-CP
Hugh Smeltekop

Hugh assists Fr. Freddy in oversight of the College’s core areas, specifically in the areas of academics and research. Dr. Smeltekop has a M.S. in Soil Science from South Dakota State University at Brookings and a PhD in Agronomy from Michigan State University in Ann Arbor. Dr. Smeltekop has more than seven years of experience at the College, teaching, managing laboratories, developing and implementing extension and research projects, and coordinating international projects with collaborating universities. Dr. Smeltekop serves as an important link between the UAC-CP and Carmen Pampa Fund.

 

Academic Faculty

José Luis Beltrán Vásquez, Director of the Agronomy Department
Jose Luis Beltran Vasquez

José Luis has been professor of at the UAC-CP since 2003. As director of one of the College’s largest academic departments, José Luis coordinates research projects, advises thesis students, conducts statistical analysis of research results, and helps to develop thesis and research topics. Professor Beltrán holds advanced degrees in Agronomic Engineering and Education from the Technical University of Oruro.

 

Andrés Pardo Asllani, Director of the Education Department
Andres Pardo

Andrés has been a rural educator for more than 26 years. In December 2006, Andres returned to Carmen Pampa from Boston College, where he obtained a M.A. in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation (ERME). Andres also holds a Masters in Education from the Jesuit University ITESO in Guadalajara, Mexico and a certificate in Educational Administration from UAC-CP.

 

Lidia Cuevas Montes, Director of the Nursing Department,
Lidia Cuevas

Lidia is a seasoned health professional who has worked for various NGOs, schools ,and government agencies. She holds a B.S. in Nursing from the Universidad Autónoma Juan Misael Saracho in Tarija; a certificate in Applied Epidemiology and Health Planning from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in Sucre; and a M.S. in Public Health with emphasis on Health Systems Management from the Universidad NUR in La Paz.

 

J.J. Martin Morales Fernandez, Director of the Veterinary Science DepartmentJ.J. Martin Morales Fernandez

Martin has been a professor at the UAC-CP since 1998, teaching various courses including Poultry and Hog Production, Animal Nutrition, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases in Domestic Animals, and Animal Reproduction. He has worked as a veterinary technician in the region since the early nineties and holds a M.A. in Statistics from the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno in Santa Cruz.

 

Sr. Jean Morrissey, FMIC, Director of the Theology Department and Pastoral Ministry Program, organizes the College’s Pastory Ministry Program, spiritual and leadership workshops/retreats, psychology/counseling services’ special projects, sacrament preparation, liturgies and worship services, etc. Prior to working in Carmen Pampa, Sr. Jean worked in pastoral ministry and religious formation in Pirua, Peru, and taught theology at Mt. Alvernia High School in Boston, MA, for 18 years. She has a M.A. in Theology from St. Bonaventures University, Olean, New York, and has been a member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception for 44 years.
