Administrative Staff
Father Freddy del Villar Zúñiga, Director General of the College, is responsible for the day-to-day activities, planning and oversight of UAC-CP. Freddy has a diploma from the Itepal Institute (Colombia) in Pastoral and Liturgical studies (1998), a Licentiate in Social Institutional Communication from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, Italy (2005), and a Master's degree in Bioethics from the Athenaeum Pontificium Regina Apostolorum in Rome, Italy (2005). In the Diocese of Coroico, Father Freddy has served as: Episcopal Delegate for Education (1998-June 2002), Parish priest of the Santa Maria Magdalena parish, Sorata (1999-June 2002), Professor in the Holy Spirit seminary (1999-June 2002), Diocesan Treasurer (2001-June 2002), Head Diocesan Vicar and Rector in the Cathedral of Coroico (2006), and Vice-rector of Administration at UAC-Carmen Pampa (2006).
Academic Faculty
José Luis Beltrán Vásquez, Head of the Agronomy Department, is a native Bolivian and has been professor of Agronomic Sciences at UAC-CP since January 2003. His duties as department head include coordinating research projects, advising thesis students, conducting statistical analysis of research results, developing thesis and research topics, and other tasks pertaining to agronomic research. Professor Beltrán holds advanced degrees in Agronomic Engineering and Education from the Technical University of Oruro.
Hugh Smeltekop, Head of Research at UAC-CP, has a M.S. in Soil Science from South Dakota State University at Brookings and a PhD in Agronomy from Michigan State University in Ann Arbor. He has been at UAC-CP for over five years, teaching, managing laboratories and running extension projects. In addition to supervising reasearch, he teaches in the agronomy department; looks for ways to get results to the public through publications and seminars; and develops resources such as courses, seminars, web pages, scholarships and cooperative agreements with other institutions.
Andrés Pardo Asllani, Head of the Primary Education Department, has been a rural educator for 26 years and became UAC-CP’s new Department Head of Primary Education in January 2007. In December 2006, Andres returned to Carmen Pampa from Boston College, where he completed a Master’s degree in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation (ERME). Andres also holds a Masters in Education from the Jesuit University ITESO in Guadalajara, Mexico (1992) and a certificate in Educational Administration from UAC-CP (1998).
Josué Constancio Calsina Cota, UAC-CP’s first Head of the Ecotourism Program since January 2006, is an expert in tourism and natural resource management and has also worked and published in the field of fisheries science. Prof. Calsina holds a B.S. in Biology from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (1990), an M.S. in Fisheries Science from the University of Tokyo, Japan (1993), a Diploma in Higher Education from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (2000), and a diploma in tourism management from the University of Pinar del Rio, Cuba (2002).
Lidia Cuevas Montes, Head of the Public Health Nursing department, is a seasoned health professional who has worked for various NGOs, schools and government agencies. She holds a B.S. in Nursing from the Universidad Autónoma Juan Misael Saracho in Tarija (1994); a certificate in Applied Epidemiology and Health Planning from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in Sucre (2002); and a M.S. in Public Health with emphasis on Health Systems Management from the Universidad NUR in La Paz (2006).
J.J. Martin Morales Fernandez, Head of the Veterinary Science department, has been a professor of Veterinary Sciences at UAC-CP since 1998, teaching various courses including Poultry and Hog Production, Animal Nutrition, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases in Domestic Animals, and Animal Reproduction. He has worked as a veterinary technician in the region since the early nineties and holds a Masters in Statistics from the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno in Santa Cruz.
