Academic Partnerships

South Dakota State University (SDSU);Brookings, SD was theCollege's first academic partner, dating back to the founding of the UAC-CP in 1993.  Exchanges with SDSU over this time have UAC-CP faculty visited South Dakota State University in April 2007helped promote initiatives in nutrition, environment and biodiversity.  Over one dozen professors have made visits to the College, many on a yearly basis, to teach UAC-CP students, guide their thesis projects and conduct research. Faculty and staff at the UAC-CP have also had the opportunity to visit SDSU's campus and work on joint projects. Currently, the institutions are collaborating on a project that gives special consideration to the integration of indigenous initiatives within the context of higher education.

Since 2000, St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN has been a partner with the UAC-CP. In the past, faculty and students from both institutions conducted an extensive health survey of the communities served by UAC-CP’s extension program, with follow-up studies, under the auspices of a Fulbright Scholarship. St. Catherine librarians have also worked with UAC-CP's duel libraries to help train staff and implement an organized system. The institutions are currently exploring opportunities for joint projects that focus on public health nursing and English as a Second Language instruction.

A partnership with the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UW-RF) was finalized in April 2006. Through a grant to Carmen Pampa Fund, faculty and students from UW-RF have helped to organize UAC-CP’s English as a Foreign Language program. UW-RF graduates who have chosen to volunteer at the College after graduation have played an integral role in the success of the UAC-CP's Ecotourism Department.
