"The reason I want to return to my town once I finish [studying at the College] is that I've lived in poverty. I've felt hunger. I've cried. I was sick and nobody helped me...there weren't hospitals, there wasn't medicine. It's critical the state in which some populations live. And the young people who come from these populations come here [to Carmen Pampa] with the desire to change." Watch a video about the College. Danielle Lang, a candidate in Hamline University's Master of Arts in English as a Second Language Program in St. Paul, Minn., volunteered to teach English at the College for the second semester of the 2011 academic year. "Every day the students inspire and challenge me to grow as a person and a professional. The smiles they carry through their hardships and their dedication to education reminds me that teaching truly is a privilege," Lang said.
